In medical astrology, each planet has rulership over body parts, functions, herbal medicines, foods and much more. In a previous article I wrote about how each planet represents a different day of the week and its energy. There's a lot to unpack here, so over the next few months, I'm going to take you through each planet and what it represents.

Let's start with Venus. Venus is the goddess of love and beauty. In regular astrology terms, she has rulership over beauty, harmony, what we value and how we gratify or find pleasure. In medical astrology, she has rulership/domain over the hair (for beauty not protection), the thyroid, throat, and tonsils. She is involved with thyroid health as well as keeping balance in the body and is very much about what we value in life - be it foods, pleasure, peace, material possessions, art, etc. 

As far as foods go, she is the ruler of sugar, sweet things, and all carbohydrates which is why we LOVE her so much. If you look closely at the list of foods, many are the luscious, pitted fruits of spring and summer.
