By eating high fiber foods we are allowing our stool to absorb water and become the right consistency to pass through the rectum without straining. Chronic straining can lead to pelvic floor dysfunction and even prolapse, so avoiding it is key to protecting your pelvic floor long term.
  2. Water, water, water. Water is key to our diets because not only does it improve constipation, but by drinking primarily water, you are avoiding drinking bladder irritants. Bladder irritants like coffee, tea, soda, carbonated beverages, and alcohol all cause the bladder to increase activity and spasm, thus leading to a sense of urgency. This is one of the easiest ways to avoid that feeling of overactive bladder.
  3. Yogurt, or foods with an active microbiome. Yogurt is one of the best sources of probiotics which can help keep the vaginal pH in check which can help prevent not only vaginal infections, but bladder infections as well.
